James Reports February 13, 2010
2nd Danggit harvestWe had our second harvest of cleaner fish on Sat the 13th. We are not sure what happened but a lot of
the 4,000 danggit had disappeared. The cage was not damaged, the cover was still attached, but about
2000 plus fish were missing. Enting, our fish cage manager said he had no idea what happened. Papa
decided we would have to leave a family member at the cage for a while until we found out what was going
on. There had also been some fish feed missing over the last few weeks. On the morning of the 14th Enting
and papa had some words and we now have a new cage manager. We will harvest the Bangus on the
22nd and hope the count is correct. One thought is that 2000 of the cleaner fish were not put in the cage
and the other guess is that they were very undersize and just swam thru the mesh netting. Enting and the
man that brought the fish were told to not put the fish in the cage unless Nikki or Papa was there to see the
count. Some how that was not done. There was no excuse offered. We still had a small profit on the sale of
the danggit. Any way now all we can do is wait until the 22nd and hope the count of Bangus is correct.
On the 14th Nikki and I carried the kids and some friends out to Jolly Bee's for dinner.
The water seems to get rough every time I go to or leave the cage. Although it is only about a 3 foot swell
I am having trouble walking around the cage. every one thinks it is funny but they always hold on to me so I
a do not fall. It is embarresing but I have not fell and have not had to crawl on the walk poles to get to the hut ...
Yet.
