ISLAND  TRECKER

June 2, 2010 Milkfish Harvest

June 2, 2010 Milkfish Harvest

Nikki writes:

Hello dear readers...
On behalf of my husband, the late James Ernest Wilkinson, I will be continuing to post articles to the Island Trecker website he started. writting let u know how are things he started here goes on The pictures u can see by clicking on the camera icon above are the harvest we did on June 2, 2010. When James was still alive, he fed them and looked after them everyday with me. All of these, me and my family thank so much of James’ effort, helped us raising this project. Hun wherever u r now, u r our inspiration. The harvest was real good - the fishe grew well, majority of the weigh of the fishe were 800 to 900 grams - we didn’t expect it coz we suffered high mortality when they were still fingerlings (from delivery of fingerlings up to 2 months) we loaded 12,000 pieces plus the 3 percent free but had almost 800 pcs die until the day of the harvest.

NEVERTHELESS we got more than 11,000 out of what we loaded, the fishes still weigh very good the harvest yielded more than 6,000 kilos out of the left overs from mortality. I knew James when he is watching us right now he will be happy coz he knew how worried I was with the situation of the fishes when we were taking care of them.. Hun the effort I will spend in the fish cage is all for u. UR MY INSPIRATION…. I LOVE U HUN EVEN WHEN UR NOW IN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD.

The next harvest (another pen) will be on August 2nd 2010 ... and we dropped 50 thousand fingerlings. 10 thousand milkfish and 3 thousand danggit in each cage for our December harvest target.
